Prisoner of Conscience Victoire Ingabire was featured by Friends of Victoire at the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF)’s Centennial Conference: “100 years of Peacemaking”.
WILPF is the oldest women’s peace organisation in the world and has Sections and Branches in more than 33 countries.
On its 100th anniversary, WILPF held its centenary conference in the Hague, Netherlands from 27th to 29 April 2015 where eight hundreds of women peacemakers from all over the world came together to establish a new peace agenda for the 21st century.
Friends of Victoire, represented by its Chair, Mrs Marie-Lyse Numuhoza, participated at the congress and at the conference and had a stand featuring Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza’s work on true reconciliation and about her case. WILPF Participants showed keen interest in discussing about what can be done for advocating for Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza and for her release. Participants from the UK, USA, Spain, Canada, Australia and other countries took turn to hold a sign “Free Victoire Ingabire”.
